Congratulations to Our 2024 High School PSA Competition Winners!

Our most sincere thanks to our competition underwriters, the Sacramento Area Sewer District and the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District. Their Confluence Regional Partnership Grant includes public education programs that educate students, parents and general public through local area school educational efforts about good community water and sewer habits. Thanks for letting Access Sacramento be your local channel distribution network!

Students developed PSAs for their mock client and program sponsor, the Sacramento Area Sewer District (SASD) and Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (Regional San). To develop their PSAs, students could choose from multiple topics aimed at teaching people in the Sacramento region how they can help keep the sewers flowing smoothly and protect our local waterways. This year, forty-three PSAs were submitted in either the live-action or animated category, and $2,500 in prizes was awarded to eight winning students and seven teachers.

“This competition teaches kids how to apply their creativity to a client’s need using realistic media production criteria.” said Donna Girot, Executive Director of Access Sacramento. “We feel so fortunate that the Sewer and Sanitation Districts have sponsored this multi-year grant through the Confluence Regional Partnership Program. The students learn how to be good environmental stewards, and Access Sacramento, Metro 14 & SECC get great PSAs to air locally.”

Winning PSAs will air on Access Sacramento’s local and internet distribution channels and will be highlighted throughout the fall and winter on the “Hometown Game of the Week,” Access Sacramento’s live coverage of high school football and basketball seasons.
