The Sunday Cookout with James & Raina” is your throwback, Sunday afternoon, good vibes radio show, complete with a variety of music (mostly vinyl!) from the 1960s through the 1990s. Being the music lovers we are, we’ll be treating your ears to a unique mix of B-sides, rare cuts, and forgotten favorites from the golden eras of R&B, rock, hip hop, reggae, ska, punk, and more! You’ll also hear snippets from your favorite TV shows, movies, commercials, and newsworthy clips from the past.
We’ll also be highlighting your favorite artists (local and noted legends) with informative, yet fun, interviews on select shows. Just like a Sunday afternoon cookout, this show is a variety of tasty delights, sizzling with unexpected moments, and a mix of flavors that bring everyone together – tune in and see for yourself!
As DJs with a love for vinyl records, James and Raina LeGarreta have provided music for many occasions, including themed events, Oktoberfests, art shows, holiday affairs, reunions and fundraisers. They’ve hosted the “Thrift Store Records” for six years on Fresno State’s 90.7 KFSR, as well as “Last Call” on KDVS in Davis, and “Saturday Morning Laundry” on Access Sacramento Radio’s “The Voice” of Sacramento. The LeGarretas returned to Access Sacramento’s KUBU 96.5 FM in 2014-2018 to host “Continental Breakfast,” a Saturday morning, all vinyl records show featuring music of different genres, including studio performances and interviews with local artists and noted legends on select shows.
